"On behalf of the family I would like to thank you for playing at the church.
We very much appreciated the time and effort the players made in order to be present and play for dad one last time.
Everyone commented on how nice it was to have the band playing.
Many Thanks Once Again
Jeff Old"

Brass: Durham International Festival 2010 needs volunteers
BRASS: Durham International Festival is a two-week celebration of internationally acclaimed brass artists and ensembles. This year the festival will take place from 3rd to 18th July.
Drawn from across the broadest of musical spectrums with an amazing variety of music, BRASS illuminates the strong musical and cultural bond that connects the North East with the international traditions of brass music.
At the same time the festival is a testament to the strength of our particular brass tradition and many excellent brass ensembles and brass bands that County Durham produces. Only in Durham could such a festival take place!
BRASS needs volunteers and if you’re interested in music, festivals or events, BRASS: Durham International Festival is a great way to develop new skills and professional experience, enhance and build upon existing skills, meet new people, hear new music and find out how an international festival like BRASS works!
We need volunteers throughout the festival to take on a number of different roles, these include:
- Chaperoning bands as they play in venues in Durham City and across the County including Streets of Brass
- Being the first point of contact at events for members of the public who require more information about the festival
- Distributing marketing information about other brass festival events taking place
- Supporting the evaluation of the festival
- Selling merchandise and programmes to members of the public
We also need volunteers in the weeks before the festival to help with distribution of publicity and promotion of the festival before it happens.
We will provide briefing sessions for all volunteers before the festival takes place. You will receive free BRASS merchandise and a pair of free tickets to a performance of your choice during the festival.
If you're interested in volunteering at Brass: Durham International Festival 2010 email Rosie Legg - rosie.legg@durham.gov.uk for an information sheet and application form.
For more information about BRASS go to www.brassfestival.co.uk. You can also find us on Myspace: www.myspace.com/brassdif and on Facebook search for ‘Brass International Festival’.
