In recent years the contest has been held in the grounds of Houghall College, Durham.

Own choice March and Hymn contest held in the award-winning Beamish Open Air Museum in County Durham.
Solo Contest
The DCBBA Soloist Competition is held annually, in recent years at the ELCAP, Easington Lane. The contest has featured performances by many players who have stepped up to principal chairs in Championship Section Bands throughout the UK
